Brief Bio
I graduated in electronics and then started in tech as an intern in India. I was always fascinated by tech and what it could do. I went on to do a master’s degree in computer networking in the US ten years ago. I have worked for several multinational companies in different tech roles. This experience enabled me to explore different disciplines, but LexisNexis has impacted my career the most.
I lead a globally distributed cross-functional team responsible for setting technical direction and evolving cloud-native platform capabilities for a portfolio of over two hundred applications to deliver the world’s best legal software solutions. I strongly believe in continuous learning and recently completed an organizational leadership program with Harvard Business School.
WITH GROUPS CREATING PROGRAMS TO ENCOURAGE FEMALES TO CONSIDER STEM, WHAT IS THE BIGGEST BARRIER TO ENTRY THAT IS STILL PREVALENT TODAY?
Social belief system, cultural factors and earning environment affect girl's interest and achievements in STEM subjects. Even girls as young as 4 or 5 fall prey to stereotypes. It's essential to teach girls to code and socialize them to be brave.
Prove it again Bias- Women often feel great pressure to prove their professional worth and overall commitment to their respective disciplines repeatedly. This feeling reportedly intensifies as women move up a career ladder into higher-level positions.
WHAT OR WHO INSPIRES YOU?
My parents are my biggest inspiration. My mother is a homemaker and my dad had to work extended hours to make our ends meet, so my brother and I could have a career. I believe that there is no substitute to hard work. With passion and conviction in what you do, you can motivate yourself.
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT/ACCOMPLISHMENT?
I am proud of my career trajectory from being an Intern to Leadership role. When I worked with my fellow engineer and developed alexa skill under 1week with voice-controlled commands to deploy kubernetes clusters and stateful applications within 10minutes into cloud account and demoed to the CEO of LexisNexis.
